Ferdia I am a PhD student in the Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics at the University of Cambridge. I am also a member of the Cantab Capital Institute for the Mathematics of Information and of the Cambridge Image Analysis group.

Before this, I took Part III of the Mathematical Tripos in Cambridge and I studied mathematics and physics at the undergraduate level at the Radboud University in Nijmegen.

I am broadly interested in applied mathematics, but my focus is currently on optimisation methods for large scale problems and bilevel approaches to learning hyperparameters in image processing and machine learning tasks.
